Car explosion in the Moscow region
A BMW X3 has exploded in the Russian town of Balashikha, near Moscow; the driver has been killed. Russian investigators believe that an explosive device was planted in the car.

This is being reported by Russian propaganda outlets, notably TASS, as well as a number of Russian Telegram channels linked to the security services — Mash, Shot and Baza.

The explosion occurred just as the driver got behind the wheel and started the engine. After the explosion, the car caught fire — the driver was reportedly pulled from the vehicle in time, but later died. The identity of the deceased is currently unknown.

Officials have stated that the explosion took place on Koldunova Street at approximately 5.30 am — this street is located next to Nesterova Street, where in 2025 a Volkswagen Golf was blown up with the deputy head of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Major General Yaroslav Moskalyk.

The Russian publication ‘Agency’ reports that in the Russian media, the ‘Aviators’ neighbourhood was described as a district for military pensioners.
