Demand for electric cars in Ukraine has more than halved
Electric cars in Ukraine
In May 2026, 2,652 electric vehicles were added to the Ukrainian vehicle fleet. Compared with the same month last year, demand for electric vehicles fell by 57%, and by 12% compared with April this year.

This has been reported by the Ukravtoprom association.

The vast majority of registered electric cars were passenger cars – 2,495 units. Of these, 466 were new, whilst 2,029 cars were imported into the Ukrainian market as used vehicles.

In the commercial vehicle segment, 157 electric vehicles were registered, of which only 10 were new.

Among new electric cars, the BYD Sea Lion 06 EV was in the highest demand, with 64 units registered. The top five also included the BYD Leopard 3 (57 cars), Zeekr 7X (39), Toyota bZ4X (30) and Volkswagen ID.UNYX (24).

In the used electric vehicle segment, the Nissan Leaf traditionally took first place with 310 registered cars. It was followed by the Tesla Model Y (262 cars), Tesla Model 3 (199), Chevrolet Bolt (100) and Kia Niro EV (89).

Overall, the statistics point to a further cooling of the Ukrainian electric vehicle market, where the main demand continues to be for used vehicles.

As a reminder, it was previously reported that Tesla has regained its leadership in the global electric vehicle market.
