Ten hectares of woodland that had been unlawfully held by Medvedchuk’s organisations have been returned to state ownership
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to the investigation, in 2004 officials from the Kyiv Regional and Obukhiv District State Administrations illegally removed land from state ownership and transferred it to private entities. At that time, Medvedchuk headed the Presidential Administration of Ukraine. No mandatory decision by the Cabinet of Ministers regarding the expropriation of forestry land was adopted, which constitutes a violation of the land and forestry legislation in force at the time.
On 3 June 2026, state ownership of the plots was officially registered. The Prosecutor’s Office notes that work to recover the illegally alienated forest land is ongoing.
