The soldier tried to avoid service by offering a bribe of $4,000.

In the Kirovohrad region, an indictment was sent to court against a serviceman who was caught attempting to bribe an official at a training centre of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The State Bureau of Investigations reported the completion of the pre-trial investigation.

According to the investigation, the man was undergoing training in a training platoon and decided to leave the military unit without permission. After a failed attempt to get past security, he offered the deputy battalion commander $4,000 for "help" in leaving the unit. The official immediately reported the attempted bribery to law enforcement agencies.

The serviceman was detained while handing over the first part of the illegal benefit. He is charged with offering and giving a bribe to an official in a responsible position, as well as attempted evasion of military service by deception, committed under martial law.

The sanctions under the articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine provide for punishment of up to 10 years' imprisonment. The case was procedurally supervised by the Kropyvnytskyi Specialised Prosecutor's Office for the Southern Region.
