The Security Service of Ukraine has reported the arrest of four individuals suspected of spreading pro-Russian propaganda and justifying the Russian Federation’s armed aggression.

The Security Service of Ukraine has reported the arrest of four more individuals who supported the Kremlin, justified Russia’s armed aggression and spread false information about the Ukrainian Defence Forces.

In the Kyiv region, the administrator of a Telegram channel was exposed for spreading disinformation about the Ukrainian Armed Forces and calling for the disruption of mobilisation. According to the investigation, he also advocated targeted strikes against defence facilities and critical infrastructure.

In the Kherson region, a woman was detained who had sent emails to state institutions containing statements that cast doubt on Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The investigation established that she referred to Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine as an internal civil conflict. Furthermore, she justified the temporary occupation of Crimea, parts of Donbas, the Zaporizhzhia region and the left bank of the Kherson region.

In the Cherkasy region, another suspect was charged after spreading false information about the activities of the Defence Forces and the situation on the front line in the chat rooms of a popular messaging app. He was also recorded calling for the continuation of shelling of Ukraine’s energy and heat-generating enterprises.

In Zakarpattia, an online agitator was exposed who had called on social media for the secession of Ukraine’s western region.

Linguistic analyses conducted at the initiative of the SSU confirmed the suspects’ information activities in favour of the Russian Federation.

Investigators informed the detainees of their suspicion under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. These relate to encroachment upon the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, as well as the justification, recognition as lawful, or denial of the Russian Federation’s armed aggression against Ukraine and the glorification of its participants.

The detainees face up to eight years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Operational measures were carried out by SSU officers in Kyiv and the Kyiv, Kherson, Cherkasy and Zakarpattia regions under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor’s offices.
