The SSU carried out strikes on the ‘Saki’ and ‘Gvardeyskoye’ airfields in occupied Crimea
As part of a 40-day operation aimed at exerting pressure on the Russian Federation, the Security Service of Ukraine launched a drone strike on the ‘Saki’ and ‘Gvardeyskoye’ military airfields in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
At the Saki airfield, seven hangars used to store aircraft were hit. According to available information, Su-30SM, Su-30 and Su-24 fighter jets and frontline bombers were stationed there.
According to preliminary data, at least seven aircraft were destroyed or damaged. This is the SBU’s second strike on the Saki airfield this week.
At the ‘Gvardeyskoye’ military airfield, two hangars where ‘Shahed’ drones and aviation equipment were stored were hit.
The Saki and Gvardeyskoye airfields are among the key air bases of the Russian occupying forces in Crimea. It is from there that tactical aircraft regularly take off, launching missile and bomb strikes on Ukrainian territory and supporting the operations of the Russian force in the south.
“The SSU continues to carry out the tasks set by the President of Ukraine and systematically reduce Russia’s military capabilities. Each of our special operations means a reduction in enemy aviation, logistics, depots, equipment and infrastructure that support Russian aggression. We will continue to exert maximum pressure on the enemy both on the front line and deep in the rear, depriving them of the ability to wage war against Ukraine,” said SSU Head Yevhen Khmara.
