The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, chaired a special meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Headquarters, at which commanders of combat corps engaged in direct dialogue with manufacturers of weapons and equipment for the first time. The main topics of the meeting were the needs of the front line, the supply of troops and the modernisation of defence production.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, announced that a special meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Headquarters had taken place following several days of discussions with the commanders of the corps carrying out the most critical combat missions.

According to the Head of State, this was the first time that direct communication had been organised between Ukraine’s main manufacturers of weapons and equipment, the corps commanders who use these products, and representatives of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the Ministry of Finance and the special services.

The meeting was attended by the commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Airborne Assault Forces, the commanders of the 10th, 11th and 19th Army Corps, the ‘Charter’ and ‘Azov’ Corps, as well as representatives of the Ukrainian defence industry.

The participants focused primarily on practical issues relating to the actual needs of military units, delays in supply, unresolved procurement issues, the need for additional funding and the conclusion of supply contracts. Discussions centred, in particular, on drones of all types, ground-based robotic systems, long-range artillery shells and other equipment required in areas of intense combat operations.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to establish a regular format for such cooperation between corps commanders, manufacturers and government bodies. This work will be coordinated by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the National Security and Defence Council.

Separately, during the meeting at the High Command, cases were discussed where product defects had been identified whilst the equipment was in use by combat units. Zelenskyy emphasised that manufacturers must respond promptly to such reports and rectify any identified shortcomings.

The President also announced that he would hold meetings with other corps commanders the very next day to gather feedback from the entire corps structure of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.

According to the Head of State, he will continue to identify the necessary adjustments to Ukraine’s defence strategy and the priorities for the production and supply of weapons to the armed forces. Particular attention was paid to air defence issues and the tasks facing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the diplomatic service.

The President thanked all participants in the meeting for their frank and substantive discussion. He emphasised that Ukraine must enter August as strong as possible and be prepared for various scenarios and Russia’s actions in the autumn.

The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption will be able to monitor not only how anti-corruption work is organised within institutions, but also compliance with previously issued directives and recommendations. If an institution fails to report the results in response to a request from the Agency, this may constitute grounds for an unscheduled inspection.
