Zinaida Kubar reported crimes committed by her ex-husband Serhiy Lyovochkin to the police
Public figure and artist Zinaida Kubar (Likhachova) reported that she had filed complaints with the National Police of Ukraine regarding alleged crimes committed by her ex-husband, Serhiy Lyovochkin, a member of parliament from the Opposition Platform — For Life party and former head of the Presidential Administration under Viktor Yanukovych. She made a public statement about this on Facebook, calling for maximum publicity.
According to Kubar, her statements relate to several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In particular, she points to coercion to "restore the family" (Article 151-2 of the Criminal Code), which, according to her, manifested itself in psychological terror, surveillance, threats and pressure. She also alleges domestic violence (Article 126-1 of the Criminal Code), claiming that physical force was used against her while they were living together, which, according to her, was documented by doctors and during police calls.
Separately, Kubar alleges a violation of privacy (Article 182 of the Criminal Code). According to her, her ex-husband allegedly sent her current husband intimate videos filmed without her consent during their marriage. In addition, she reports the theft of her car (Article 289 of the Criminal Code), which she considers an attempt to intimidate her and demonstrate his impunity.
Zinaida Kubar notes that she has the case materials at her disposal and is ready to provide them to journalists. She thanked the Galitsia law firm and her lawyer Stepan Bozhyl for their legal support, emphasising the risks she faces given the influence of the person involved in the case.
Separately, she again publicly stated that, in her opinion, Serhiy Lyovochkin was involved in the transfer of her current husband, Vladislav Shevchenko, a soldier in the State Border Guard Service and combatant, to another military unit. According to Kubar, this took place against a backdrop of threats and could pose a threat to his life and health. She claims that previous appeals and public publicity have not elicited a response from the State Border Guard Service leadership.
Kubar emphasised that she had hesitated for a long time before speaking publicly, but considered this to be the only possible way to protect herself. She stressed that she was aware of the risks but did not intend to remain silent.
⚠️ Note: in accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict. The statements described in this article are the applicant's statements and are subject to legal assessment by law enforcement agencies.
