Drone attack in Rostov region: an oil tanker burns in the port of Rostov
On the night of 18 December, drones attacked a number of cities in Russia's Rostov region. The worst consequences were recorded in Rostov-on-Don, where a tanker caught fire in an oil port.
The mayor of the city reported the fire on the vessel. According to him, the tanker was near the berth in the Western residential area, where the port for transshipment of oil products is located. A fuel spill was avoided, and there are dead and injured among the crew.
The Governor of Rostov Region confirmed the drone attacks in Bataysk and Taganrog as well.
According to Russian telegram channels, the Valery Gorchakov tanker could have been hit. The vessel was built in 1969 as a dry bulk carrier and converted in 2004 to transport various types of oil products.
Russian authorities traditionally claim that air defences are working and clarify the consequences of the attack.
