Peskov stated that Russia considers the deployment of NATO troops in Ukraine to be unacceptable
Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the illegitimate President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, has commented on the possibility of NATO military contingents being deployed on Ukrainian territory. A statement to this effect was circulated by Russian propaganda media on 21 July.
According to Peskov, countries in the European Union and NATO are allegedly discussing plans to deploy allied troops in Ukraine as part of future security guarantees.
He stated that such a scenario is “absolutely unacceptable” to Russia and added that Moscow “cannot allow” NATO troops to appear on Ukrainian territory.
“For us, this is absolutely unacceptable; we cannot allow such actions. And, in fact, it is precisely to ensure that no NATO troops are present on Ukrainian territory that the ‘special military operation’ is being carried out,” said Peskov.
Earlier, in early July, in an interview with Die Weltwoche, Peskov claimed that the war could allegedly end “the very next day” if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy withdrew Ukrainian troops from the Donbas and legally recognised the temporarily occupied territories as part of Russia.
