British intelligence has calculated the losses of the Russian army in Ukraine for 2025
The Russian army's losses in the war against Ukraine in 2025 are estimated to be around 415,000 killed and wounded. This was reported by the British Ministry of Defence, citing intelligence data.
According to British estimates, this figure is the second highest since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. For comparison, in 2024, Russia's losses reached approximately 430,000 people, which was a record annual level for the entire period of the war. British intelligence estimates the total losses of Russian forces since February 2022 at approximately 1,213,000 military personnel.
Analysts, based on data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, note that the average daily losses of the Russian Federation in December 2025 increased to 1,130 people, compared to 1,030 in November. This was the fourth consecutive month of growth in this indicator. At the same time, between August and December 2025, average monthly losses remained at their lowest since April 2024.
The British agency attributes the new increase in losses to Russia's intensified offensive actions along the front line. According to intelligence estimates, in January 2026, Russia is likely to continue to suffer significant losses due to constant infantry attacks in several directions.
