The U.S. State Department approved the sale of two military aid packages to Ukraine
The U.S. Department of State approved the sale of two military aid packages to Ukraine totaling $330 million. The packages include equipment for air defense and maintenance tools for M190 howitzers.

This was reported by the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency.

The air defense package is estimated at $180 million. It includes:

  • modifications and maintenance;
  • spare parts;
  • repair support;
  • personnel training;
  • training equipment.

Separately, there was reported that the U.S. is also ready to sell assistance in maintaining the M109 self-propelled howitzers. This package is valued at $150 million. The assistance includes maintenance tools, repair, and training.

The U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency does not specify who will pay for the transfer of equipment for Ukraine's air defense and howitzers.

The agency also emphasizes in each message that aid to Ukraine will not affect U.S. defense capabilities.

«It will support the goals of U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives by enhancing Ukraine's ability to provide for its own defense», — the message states.
