The former head of the State Border Service of Ukraine was dismissed from service due to health reasons. At the same time, criminal proceedings are ongoing, in which the court must determine a preventive measure.

Former head of the State Border Service of Ukraine Serhiy Deyneka was dismissed from military service based on the decision of the military medical commission. This was reported by journalist Vitaliy Glagola on Telegram.

The order for his dismissal was issued the day before. The reason was his state of health, as, according to the conclusion of the military medical commission, Deineko was deemed unfit for further military service. His request for dismissal, submitted on the same day, was also taken into account.

The State Border Service of Ukraine denied reports that former head of the agency Serhiy Deyneko had been discharged from military service by decision of the military medical commission. According to State Border Service spokesman Andriy Demchenko, the information about Deyneko's discharge is not true.

The spokesperson emphasised that the procedure for military service and discharge from it is clearly regulated by the Law of Ukraine on Military Duty and Military Service, as well as by the regulations on service in the State Border Guard Service. Any decisions in this area are made exclusively within the framework of the current legislation.

Vitaliy Glagola noted that the former head of the State Border Guard Service underwent a military medical examination at the Main Military Medical Clinical Centre of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. It was there that the decision on his unsuitability was made.

At the same time, as part of the criminal proceedings against Serhiy Deyneka, the court was to consider the issue of choosing a preventive measure for him. However, the court hearing was postponed until Monday, 2 February. According to sources, the prosecution plans to request bail in the amount of 22 million hryvnias.
