Samsung Electronics has set up a new division, Robotics eXperience (RX), which will focus on developing and bringing robotics solutions to market. The company is expected to unveil humanoid robots later this year.

This has been announced by Samsung.

The unit will report directly to the company’s chief executive officer.

RX will be responsible for medium- and long-term strategy, business processes and the development of core technologies. Lee Dong-geun, a former senior executive at Hyundai Motor and Boston Dynamics, has been appointed to lead the division.

In addition, the tech giant will open specialised research hubs in the US, China and Japan.

The company is expected to unveil humanoid robots as early as 2026. Initially, the new developments will be rolled out at manufacturing facilities, and will eventually be scaled up for the home appliance and retail markets.
