Estonian P4P high-speed interceptor
Ukraine is testing a new Estonian high-speed P4P interceptor, capable of shooting down jet-powered drones, which Russia is actively attempting to deploy on the front line.

The development was unveiled by the technology company Alatyr Group, according to United24 Media.

The new aircraft combines the features of a rocket and a multicopter. It takes off vertically using four electric motors, and after take-off, it activates a rocket booster and transitions to high-speed horizontal flight.

According to the developers, the P4P is capable of intercepting targets moving at speeds of around 500 km/h. It is precisely such jet-powered drones that Russia has recently been using to complicate the work of Ukrainian air defence systems and FPV interceptors.

The P4P’s design features an elongated cylindrical fuselage, which provides better aerodynamics during high-speed flight. The system serves as a cheaper and more mobile alternative to conventional air defence missiles for countering drones.

As the publication notes, Europe and Ukraine are looking for precisely such solutions – mass-produced, relatively inexpensive and fast interceptors that can effectively respond to the new wave of Russian drones.

Ukraine is simultaneously developing its own similar projects. Earlier, Ukrainian developers unveiled the ‘Lytavr’ drone interceptor, created by F-DRONES. According to the developers, one of the drones has already managed to hit a target 84 km from the launch point.

New interception systems are now playing a key role against the backdrop of massive Russian drone attacks, which Moscow is attempting to make cheaper and more difficult to destroy.

As a reminder, it was previously reported that Ukraine is strengthening its air defences using AI and interceptor drones.
