For the first time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have struck Russian forces using FPV drones launched from unmanned boats
This is stated in a post by the 40th Separate Marine Brigade.
The military reported that whilst carrying out a combat mission, Barracuda unmanned boats came under heavy enemy fire.
To destroy one of the boats, the occupiers fired four ‘Lancet’ loitering munitions at once, resulting in the loss of the boat. Despite this, the remaining boats successfully reached the designated launch point for the strike drones.
Occupiers’ targets struck
Following additional reconnaissance, FPV drones took to the skies and successfully struck the enemy. In particular, in the area of the temporarily occupied Zalizny Port, the following were successfully struck:
- enemy logistics and equipment;
- camouflaged enemy positions;
- concentrations of Russian troops.
As a reminder, on 15 July, Ukrainian forces struck the Balaklava Thermal Power Station in Sevastopol. It generates almost 50 per cent of Crimea’s electricity.
