The Ukrainian Defence Forces continue to hold back the Russian Federation's offensive on all key fronts, inflicting significant losses on the enemy in terms of manpower and equipment.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported operational information as of 08:00 on 21 January 2026 regarding the course of Russia's full-scale aggression. The 1,428th day of the war has begun, and Ukrainian defenders continue to hold their defences, effectively exhausting the enemy's forces.

Over the past day, 110 combat clashes were recorded on the front line. Russian troops carried out five missile and 74 air strikes on the positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas, using 39 missiles and dropping 184 guided aerial bombs. In addition, the enemy used 7,754 kamikaze drones and carried out 3,814 shellings, 44 of which were from multiple launch rocket systems.

Air strikes were carried out, in particular, on the areas of the settlements of Bilopillya in the Sumy region, Velykomykhailivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region, as well as a number of communities in the Zaporizhzhia region, including Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Luhivske, Vozdvyzhka, Hirke, Sviatopetrivka, Verkhnia Tera, Barvinivka and Rizdvyanka.

In response, the Ukrainian Air Force, missile forces and artillery struck six areas where enemy personnel were concentrated and one unmanned aerial vehicle control point.

The enemy carried out 82 attacks in the North Slobozhansky and Kursk directions. In the South Slobozhansky direction, Ukrainian units stopped 11 attacks in the Vovchansk area and in the direction of Izbitsky, Grafsky, Krugly, Nesterny and Chugunivka.

Three assault attempts were recorded in the Kupiansk direction — the Defence Forces repelled attacks in the directions of Pishchane and Petropavlivka. In the Lyman direction, the enemy attempted to break through the defences 11 times near Tverdokhlibove, Stavky, Dibrova and Olgivka.

In the Sloviansk direction, Ukrainian troops repelled three attacks in the Dronivka area. In the Kramatorsk direction, they stopped one enemy assault in the direction of Bondarne. In the Kostyantynivka direction, the enemy carried out 14 attacks in the areas of Predtechino, Ivanopil, Pleshchiivka, Shcherbinivka, and in the directions of Illinivka, Stepanivka, Berestok, Novopavlivka, and Sofiivka.

The most intense fighting continued in the Pokrovsk direction, where Ukrainian defenders stopped 36 enemy assaults near Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetsk, Filiya, and Dachne in the direction of Novopavlivka.

In the Oleksandrivka direction, one enemy attack was recorded in the direction of Novyi Zaporizhzhia. In the Huliaipole direction, the Defence Forces repelled nine attacks in the Huliaipole area and in the directions of Dobropillia and Zelenyi. In the Orikhiv direction, two clashes took place near Stepnogorsk and Primorsky. In the Dnipro direction, the enemy did not conduct any offensive actions.

In the Volyn and Polissya directions, there were no signs of the enemy forming strike groups.

Over the past day, Russian troops lost 1,170 personnel. Ukrainian soldiers also destroyed or damaged eight tanks, 10 armoured combat vehicles, 70 artillery systems, three multiple launch rocket systems, 1,019 tactical-level unmanned aerial vehicles, 27 missiles, 171 vehicles and one piece of special equipment belonging to the enemy.
