Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi: ‘It is unacceptable to give up territory.’
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that the end of the war should occur without preconditions and without ceding territories, and hostilities should cease along the current front line. He shared this in an interview with Sky News.
According to him, the main priority of the Ukrainian military is the protection of the state, land, and civilian population. Syrskyi emphasized that the Ukrainian side does not even consider questions of territorial concessions.
«It is unacceptable for us to simply give away territory. What does it even mean — to transfer our land? That is exactly why we are fighting», — he said.
The general emphasized that Ukraine does not accept a scenario in which it would have to accept the transfer of all of Donetsk or Luhansk regions to Russia.
«All wars end. We want ours to end as well. And it must be a just peace — without preconditions, without renouncing territory. This means stopping along the current line of contact», — Syrskyi declared.
The Commander-in-Chief clarified that a ceasefire must be unconditional, after which negotiations can take place.
«Any other format would be an unjust peace, and it is unacceptable for us», he summarized.
