In Kropyvnytskyi, a dispute broke out between two Year 9 pupils, during which one of the teenagers stabbed the other. The boy was taken to the regional children’s hospital.

At a school in Kropyvnytskyi, a fight broke out between two Year 9 pupils, during which one of the teenagers stabbed the other.

This was reported by Oksana Kovtunenko, spokesperson for the Kirovohrad Regional Police.

According to her, the incident took place on 14 May in the classroom before the start of the lesson, whilst the teacher was not yet present.

“An investigative team, juvenile police officers and psychologists are working at the scene. The police are establishing all the circumstances of the incident and determining the legal classification,” said Kovtunenko.

Alona Shmatkova-Kopoti, a public relations specialist at the Emergency Medical Care Centre, told Suspilne that a call regarding a stabbing at the school was received at 7:59 am.

“A 15-year-old boy with a stab wound to the abdomen was admitted to the regional children’s hospital,” she said.

Vasyl Khoroshchak, director of the regional children’s hospital, said that, according to the schoolboy, a classmate had stabbed him in the back and stomach.

The teenager is currently in the surgical ward. A preliminary examination indicates he has a penetrating wound to the abdominal wall.
