On the night of 20 July, the Moscow Region came under a massive drone attack. The Russian authorities reported that more than 400 drones were heading towards the region, whilst local residents reported explosions and fires.

On the night of 20 July, explosions were heard in the Moscow Region amid a massive drone attack. According to Moscow’s mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, between 20:30 and 05:00, more than 400 unmanned aerial vehicles were heading towards the Moscow region.

He stated that most of the drones were neutralised by air defence forces on the outskirts of the region, whilst 85 were destroyed as they approached Moscow, reports DW.

During the attack, a missile alert was issued in the Moscow region, which was subsequently lifted.

According to reports from monitoring Telegram channels, fires broke out in Podilsk following the attack. Local residents also reported an attack on the Wildberries logistics centre in the village of Koledino. Videos have appeared online showing a drone flying over the warehouse complex.

There were also reports of a fire at the ‘Yuzhnye Vrata’ logistics complex near Domodedovo.

An oil depot in the Lvivskyi neighbourhood of Podilsk is also on fire. Furthermore, eyewitnesses reported numerous explosions and several fires across the Moscow Region throughout the night.
