Israel launched an attack on Iran
On the night of Friday, June 13, Israel launched two attacks on Iran. According to The Times of Israel, the IDF in social media and CNN described the "preventive strikes" as aimed at sabotaging Iran's nuclear program and targeting Iranian military facilities. The operation was named "Nation of Lions".
- Following the Israeli government's preventive strike on Iran, a missile attack and drone assault against Israel and its civilian population are expected in the near future, - said Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz after the strike, declaring a state of emergency in the country.
He emphasized that he signed a "special order, according to which a state of emergency will be introduced in the rear throughout the territory of the State of Israel." The Israel Defense Forces reported strikes on dozens of targets across Iran related to the nuclear program and other military facilities. Military officials assure that Iran has enough enriched uranium to produce several bombs within a few days.
The Israel Defense Forces issued an official statement stating that they carried out a "precise preventive strike" against Iran "aimed at damaging Iran's nuclear program and in response to the ongoing aggression of the Iranian regime against Israel".
- Dozens of Israeli Air Force aircraft recently completed a preventive strike that included attacks on dozens of military targets, including facilities related to nuclear weapons, in various regions of Iran, - the Israel Defense Forces reported.
Netanyahu also stated that the goal of the operation is to "strike Iran's nuclear infrastructure, ballistic missile factories, and military potential." He added that the operation "will continue for many more days".
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United States did not participate and did not provide assistance in the strikes carried out by Israel against Iran.
According to media reports, during the initial Israeli strikes, the chief of Iran's armed forces Mohammad Bagheri, other senior military commanders, and nuclear scientists were killed. Iranian state media also confirmed the death of IRGC Quds Force commander Hossein Salami as a result of the Israeli strike.
