Lviv region mine manager to be tried for multimillion-dollar wage arrears
An indictment has been sent to court in the Lviv region against the acting director of a mine suspected of unjustified non-payment of wages to employees. This was reported by the Prosecutor's Office of Lviv Region.
According to the investigation, the official had the authority and real financial ability to pay the staff, but deliberately failed to do so. Contrary to the requirements of the law on the priority payment of salaries, the company's funds were spent on fuel, car parts, timber, as well as on cultural events.
In 2025 alone, wage arrears reached more than UAH 20 million, and the total amount of debt to employees exceeded UAH 27 million. The manager's actions were classified under Part 1 of Article 175 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - unjustified non-payment of wages.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the police of Lviv region, and the final assessment of the official's actions will be made by the court. At the same time, the prosecutor's office reminded that under the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a guilty verdict.
