The Latvian Ministry of Defence has stated that Russia is conducting a large-scale, coordinated information campaign against Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The ministry has denied claims that the Baltic states’ territories are being used for Ukrainian attacks on Russia.

This has been reported by the Latvian Ministry of Defence.

The Latvian Ministry of Defence stated that Latvia, along with Lithuania and Estonia, is not involved in the planning or execution of Ukraine’s counterattacks against Russia.

The ministry emphasised that the Baltic states support Ukraine by providing military equipment, humanitarian aid and financial support. It also stressed that Ukraine has a legitimate right to defend itself against a full-scale Russian invasion.

What, according to Latvia, is Russia’s objective?

“With such statements, Russia is demonstrating its weakness and attempting to divert attention from the fact that it is unable to defend itself against successful Ukrainian counterattacks targeting Russian infrastructure along the Baltic Sea coast,” the Latvian Ministry of Defence noted.

The ministry explained that the aim of Russia’s information operations against the Baltic states is to discredit NATO, divide society, undermine trust in state institutions and weaken support for Ukraine.

“These efforts include the dissemination of disinformation and the use of bots on social media targeting Russian-speaking audiences, as well as the manipulation of young people,” the Latvian Ministry of Defence added.

It should be noted that Latvia and Estonia have reported incidents of drones entering their airspace. Debris from the drones was found at the sites of the incidents; there were no casualties.
