The Ministry of Defense does not consider lowering the mobilization age
Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov stated that the department does not consider lowering the mobilization age below 25 years.

He said this in a comment to Babel.

At the same time, he added that the quality of training and combat readiness of contract soldiers up to 25 years old is "the highest".

"Contract soldiers aged 18–24 demonstrated high readiness and confident actions in battle. We saw them on the battlefield — and it truly motivates. Their professionalism, endurance, and strength of spirit have become yet another confirmation that the younger generation is capable of effectively defending the state today," — the minister noted.

He also added that the Ministry of Defense is working to improve the motivational package and offer more incentives for those who decide to sign a contract.

"This is a powerful human resource that is worth supporting and developing. And the state will do this by improving the motivational package of the project," — he emphasized.

On February 11, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine officially launched the voluntary service format Contract 18–24 for Ukrainians willing to join the Defense Forces for one year.
