Law enforcement officers arrested members of a criminal gang whilst they were manufacturing psychotropic substances. Large quantities of amphetamine and other drugs were seized.

Police in the Ivano-Frankivsk region have dismantled a criminal gang that had established a full cycle of illegal production and distribution of psychotropic substances. Three residents of the region, aged 17 and 18, are implicated in the operation.

According to the investigation, the suspects manufactured psychotropic substances, packaged them and sold them within Ukraine, in particular via postal deliveries. Law enforcement officers documented at least 30 instances of prohibited substances being sent.

On 28 March, the group members were arrested whilst manufacturing another batch of amphetamine. The total weight of the seized substance exceeded 160 kilograms.

In addition, another suspect was arrested, who had purchased psychotropic substances in particularly large quantities for subsequent sale.

During 24 searches of residences, vehicles and premises, law enforcement officers seized almost 164 kilograms of amphetamine, as well as cannabis, MDMA, PVP, 4-MMS and other psychotropic substances. Equipment and chemical reagents for drug manufacture, packaging materials, cash in national and foreign currency, mobile phones, SIM cards and documentation were discovered.

The suspects were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Three suspects have been notified of suspicion under Parts 2 and 3 of Article 307 and Part 2 of Article 313 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Another suspect has been notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, with law enforcement officers establishing all the circumstances of the crime and identifying other individuals involved in the group’s activities.
