On the night of 13 January, Kyiv, Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions were attacked by Russian troops using ballistic missiles and drones. Explosions, fires, and power outages were reported during the attacks, but no casualties were reported.

On the night of 13 January 2024, Kyiv and several neighbouring regions fell victim to a new massive attack by Russia. A series of explosions were heard in the capital during an air raid alert, which was confirmed by the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko. Residents of the capital were urged to stay in shelters until the alarm ended

The Kyiv region was also attacked. The shelling caused numerous fires, including in residential buildings and industrial enterprises. Rescuers in Brovary and Fastiv districts were actively extinguishing fires in outbuildings and temporary buildings. In Vyshgorod district, a residential building caught fire as a result of an enemy strike, but the fire was quickly extinguished by the State Emergency Service. According to preliminary information, no casualties were reported

On the morning of 13 January, emergency power cuts were introduced in the capital and Buchansky district. DTEK Kyiv Power Grids informed that the outage was the result of an order from NPC Ukrenergo, and that the schedules of scheduled outages were not currently in effect. Experts urged people to conserve electricity to stabilise the power system

A separate incident occurred in Brovary district, where, according to the mayor of the district, Igor Sapozhko, at 07:30 a Russian missile fragments fell in the village of Trebukhiv. State Emergency Service units are working at the scene to inspect the area and take the necessary identification measures. No casualties were reported

The Zhytomyr region also came under fire. The head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, Vitaliy Bunechko, said that Russian troops attacked critical infrastructure in Korosten and Zvyagel districts, which resulted in fires. Rescuers are working to localise them. They are also checking the area for explosives. As of this morning, there is no information about the dead or injured
