The Netherlands will allocate €35 million in winter aid to Ukraine for its defence forces
The Netherlands announced the provision of a new winter support package to Ukraine amounting to 35 million euros. This was stated by Foreign Minister David van Veen after the meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels. The funds will be allocated through the NATO Ukraine Comprehensive Assistance Package (UCAP) program — for the purchase of medicines, equipment, and other practical aid necessary for Ukrainian troops during the winter months.
According to van Veen, at the Ukraine–NATO Council meeting, allies emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong Ukraine, especially in light of international discussions regarding possible parameters for ending the war. He underscored that both Ukraine and Europe must play a full role in this process.
The Dutch Foreign Minister also recalled the previously announced funding of 250 million euros for the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine within the NATO initiative. Part of this contribution will be directed toward a new multilateral military aid package jointly with Norway and Germany.
The Netherlands continues to closely coordinate actions both within NATO and the OSCE, where, according to van Veen, allies have the opportunity to “directly point out Russia’s aggression and reluctance to take steps toward peace.” The Ukrainian side received assurances that the Netherlands will continue to support its right to determine its own future.
