North Korea has tested AI-powered missiles for the first time
This was reported by the North Korean state news agency KCNA, according to Reuters.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un personally observed the launches. According to him, these tests demonstrated that the weapons and automated launch systems had been successfully modernised to meet the demands of modern warfare.
During the tests, the power of ballistic missile warheads, the reliability of long-range multiple launch rocket systems and the accuracy of AI-guided cruise missiles were assessed.
It was the cruise missiles, which are planned to be deployed near the border with South Korea, that attracted particular attention. Pyongyang stated that they can strike targets at a range of up to 100 kilometres — the South Korean capital, Seoul, lies within this radius.
Experts note that this is the first time North Korea has publicly announced the use of artificial intelligence in missile systems. This refers to technology that helps identify targets and adjust the missile’s flight path in real time.
