Ukrainian Mi 24 helicopter crew killed during a combat mission
The crew of a Ukrainian Mi 24 combat helicopter was killed while performing a combat mission on 17 December. The loss was reported by the 12th separate brigade of army aviation named after General Viktor Pavlenko on Facebook.
The unit noted that the death of the crew was an irreparable loss for the army aviation, the Armed Forces and the entire country. The details of the mission and the circumstances of the tragedy are not disclosed for security reasons.
It is known that the helicopter was carrying servicemen who were performing combat missions in the area of active hostilities. The brigade has announced a fundraiser to help the four families of the fallen defenders.
The 12th separate army aviation brigade is based in Novyi Kalyniv, Lviv region, and is subordinated to the command of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Mi 24 helicopters are actively used for fire support, escort and strike operations at the frontline.
