A network for the manufacture and sale of counterfeit e-cigarettes was exposed in Khmelnytskyi. During the searches, almost 30,000 units of products and equipment worth over UAH 14.5 million were seized.

Law enforcement officers in Khmelnytsky region have exposed an organised scheme for the illegal production and sale of e-cigarettes. According to the National Police, a resident of Khmelnytsky together with five accomplices set up the illegal activity.

The defendants manufactured e-cigarettes under a fictitious brand in a specially equipped workshop. The products, which did not meet quality and legal requirements, were sold through online stores and dozens of social media chats. Some of the participants were responsible for production and logistics, while others were involved in sales administration and customer search.

Police conducted 17 authorised searches at the places of manufacture, storage and residence of the defendants. As a result, equipment for the production of counterfeit goods, almost 30 thousand units of finished products, significant amounts of raw materials, three vehicles, draft accounting books and cash were seized.

The total value of the seized items exceeds UAH 14.5 million. The issue of serving a notice of suspicion to the organiser and his accomplices is currently being settled. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing under the articles on illegal manufacture of excisable goods and money laundering.
