Polish fighter jets intercepted a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft over international waters in the Baltic Sea. Poland has described this as yet another provocation by Russia.
Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, has announced that Polish fighter jets intercepted a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft over international waters in the Baltic Sea.
He wrote about this on social media platform X, according to Reuters.
“Polish aircraft intercepted a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft over international waters in the Baltic Sea. This is yet another aggressive act by the Russian Federation and a test of our air defence systems,” said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
According to him, flights with transponders switched off can pose a threat to other aircraft.
The minister also stressed that every such provocation would receive an immediate response from Polish pilots.
