Law enforcement agencies have handed over spare parts for armoured vehicles worth 20 million hryvnias to the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Based on information from the Security Service of Ukraine and the State Bureau of Investigations, a large consignment of spare parts for armoured vehicles has been handed over to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It comprises over 3,800 components for T-64 and T-72 tanks, as well as BMP-2 and MT-LB infantry fighting vehicles.
The handover was made possible after law enforcement agencies uncovered the illegal activities of a company in Kyiv.
An investigation conducted by officers from the Kyiv regional offices of the SBU and the SBI established that the company, which specialises in the sale of components for artillery and small arms, may have used illegal schemes to evade taxation.
During searches of the company’s warehouses, law enforcement officers discovered military equipment of unknown origin that was not recorded in the company’s accounts.
This involved 109 pallets of spare parts for heavy weaponry with a total book value of 20 million hryvnias.
During the investigation, company representatives agreed to voluntarily hand over the discovered components to the Armed Forces of Ukraine as charitable aid.
As part of the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, an investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances.
The investigative actions were carried out by officers of the SBU Main Directorate in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, in conjunction with the State Bureau of Investigation, under the procedural supervision of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
