In the Khmelnytskyi and Cherkasy regions, officials were detained on suspicion of extorting and offering bribes to transport companies and colleagues in order to avoid responsibility for violations.

Employees of the National Police of Ukraine, together with other law enforcement agencies, eliminated corruption schemes in the State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety. According to the investigation, officials demanded illegal benefits from carriers and offered money to colleagues for not bringing violators to administrative responsibility for exceeding weight limits and lack of permits for passenger transportation.

In the Khmelnytskyi region, law enforcement officers detained a senior state inspector of the state supervision department. According to the investigation, he received 30,000 hryvnias from a carrier for avoiding responsibility. The official was notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention with an alternative bail of 199,680 hryvnias.

In the Cherkasy region, a chief specialist of Ukrtransbezpekha was detained for offering a colleague a bribe of 50,000 hryvnias. For this money, the colleague was to ignore violations by certain carriers, in particular regarding weight standards and the absence of permits. If the colleague agreed, the suspect planned to pay this amount every month. He was charged under Part 3 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and the issue of preventive measures is being decided.

These articles provide for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to ten and eight years, respectively. The operation was carried out by units of the DSR, SBU, DBR and police investigators, with procedural guidance provided by regional prosecutors' offices.
