The Russian Federation struck Ukraine at night with 629 missiles and drones
To strike Ukraine, the occupiers used:
- 598 strike UAVs of the Shahed type and drone-imitators of various types;
- two hypersonic missiles X-47M2 Kinzhal;
- nine ballistic missiles Iskander-M/KN-23;
- 20 cruise missiles X-101.
As of 09:00, the air defense had shot down and suppressed:
- 563 drones;
- one hypersonic missile X-47M2 Kinzhal;
- seven ballistic missiles Iskander-M/KN-23;
- 18 cruise missiles X-101.
According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as a result of the attack, missiles and Shaheds hit 13 locations, and the falling of shot-down targets and debris occurred at 26 locations.
During the night of August 28, Russian troops carried out a new combined attack on Ukraine, with explosions heard in Kyiv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, and Vinnytsia region.
According to the latest data from the city authorities, in the capital, 10 people were killed and 45 wounded. The consequences are recorded at 20 locations in seven districts — buildings, offices, commercial premises, a kindergarten, and vehicles are damaged. In the Darnytskyi district, the Russians destroyed part of a five-story building with a direct hit.
In Vinnytsia region, the invaders attacked critical infrastructure, leaving 60,000 consumers without power in 29 settlements. This was reported by the Vinnytsia Regional Military Administration.
«As a result of hitting energy facilities, 60,000 consumers in 29 settlements are without power», — the statement says.
Additionally, there is damage to residential buildings.
Ukrzaliznytsia reported that Russia carried out a targeted strike on the Intercity+ high-speed train fleet, with one train significantly damaged.
During the massive strike on the night of August 28, Russia carried out a targeted attack on the civilian passenger rolling stock of Ukrzaliznytsia. Among the targets was the Intercity+ high-speed train fleet, the company reported.
