The Russian attack on the Poltava region claimed the lives of four people and left more than thirty wounded
Vitaliy Dyakivnych, head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, reported that Russian forces had attacked the region with missiles and strike drones. Direct hits and falling debris were recorded at two locations in the Poltava district.
The strikes damaged an industrial facility and railway infrastructure. 3,480 customers were left without gas supply.
Four people are known to have been killed. A further 31 people were injured.
A second strike occurred whilst the aftermath of the attack on the gas production facility was being dealt with. Two rescue workers were killed as a result.
Among the dead were Viktor Kuzmenko, deputy head of the Poltava Regional State Emergency Service’s Operational Coordination Centre, and firefighter-rescuer Dmytro Skryl.
Two more people were killed and eight were injured as a result of the second strike. Twenty-three rescuers were injured. Three people are in a critical condition, and medics are fighting for their lives, said Ukraine’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, on Telegram.
