Russian strikes on regions of Ukraine have resulted in deaths and injuries
Zaporizhzhia Region
Explosions were heard in Zaporizhzhia during an air raid alert. Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, warned of the threat of guided aerial bombs being used. The Ukrainian Air Force detected guided aerial bombs being launched in the direction of the regional capital.
Subsequently, an attack on an industrial infrastructure facility was reported. According to preliminary data, there were no casualties.
Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces carried out 989 strikes on 51 settlements in the region. Twelve people were killed and a further 49 wounded. There were 183 reports of damage to homes, educational establishments, vehicles and infrastructure.
The number of casualties from the strike on Zaporizhzhia on 5 May has risen to 43. Of these, 18 are in hospital. Four of the injured are in a critical condition, with a further 14 in a serious condition.
Kharkiv region
In Kharkiv, a fire broke out after a ‘Shahed’ drone struck a private house in the Novobavarskyi district. No reports of casualties have been received. A strike on the Shevchenkivskyi district of the city was also recorded.
Kherson region
Over the past 24 hours, one person was killed and 10 others were injured as a result of Russian shelling. Three high-rise buildings, 13 private homes, a mobile phone mast, a warehouse, ambulances and private cars were damaged.
Donetsk region
On 5 May, Russian troops killed six residents of the region and wounded 14 people. Six people were killed in Kramatorsk, with a further 13 wounded there. One person was injured in Druzhkivka.
In total, over the course of the day, Russian troops used guided aerial bombs, ballistic missiles with cluster warheads and drones, resulting in 24 deaths and over 100 injuries.
