Rubio announced a decision regarding $400 million in military aid to Ukraine
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stated that the process of approving a $400 million military aid package for Ukraine is in its final stages, according to Reuters.
During a congressional hearing, he noted that the funding is currently undergoing an interagency coordination process. According to Rubio, he reviewed the relevant documents last Friday and expects an update on the matter shortly.
This concerns funding for the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), which provides for the Pentagon to purchase equipment from US defence companies for Ukraine’s needs.
The $400 million package was included in the National Defence Authorisation Act, which the US Congress approved in December 2025.
In late April, Senator Mitch McConnell stated in an article for The Washington Post that officials at the US Department of Defence were blocking the delivery of aid to Ukraine that had previously been approved by Congress.
Following this, US Defence Secretary Pete Hagset announced that the relevant funds had been allocated and transferred.
Marco Rubio confirmed that the aid package continues to undergo the necessary approval procedures between government agencies.
