Russia has attacked nine regions of Ukraine; there are fatalities and dozens of people have been injured

Over the past 24 hours and on the morning of 20 July, Russian forces carried out strikes on a number of regions in Ukraine. The regions hardest hit were Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Kherson, Sumy, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Poltava and Chernihiv.

Zaporizhzhia Region

Explosions were heard in Zaporizhzhia during the night whilst an air raid alert was in force. Prior to this, the Air Force had warned of the threat of guided bombs being dropped on the region.

In the morning, Russian troops struck a holiday home cooperative. The attack caused houses to catch fire, and two people sought medical attention.

According to the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, over the past 24 hours, Russian troops carried out 1,015 strikes on 53 settlements in the region. Three people were killed and a further 47 were injured as a result of strikes on Zaporizhzhia and the Zaporizhzhia district. There were also 300 reports of damage to infrastructure, homes, vehicles and farm buildings.

Donetsk region

Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops killed four civilians in the region and wounded a further 13 people.

In Kramatorsk, two people were killed and three others were injured. In Sloviansk, two civilians were killed and one person was injured. There were also casualties in Druzhkivka, Malotaranivka, Stepanivka and Bilenke.

Kherson region

Over the past 24 hours, two people were killed and a further 16 were injured as a result of Russian strikes.

A multi-storey building, six private homes, a shop, a petrol station, agricultural machinery, a trolleybus and private cars were damaged.

Sumy Region

Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces carried out more than 70 strikes on 26 settlements across 15 local communities in the region.

In the Sumy community, a 54-year-old man was killed as a result of a strike by guided aerial bombs. A 54-year-old woman, a 90-year-old woman and a 68-year-old man were injured. Two more women were injured as a result of drone strikes.

In the Bilopil community, Russian troops repeatedly attacked the site where State Emergency Service staff were working. The rescue workers managed to retreat to safety, but a fire engine was damaged. Emergency services also extinguished fires following the attacks in the Bilopil and Hlukhiv communities.

Odesa region

This morning, Russian troops launched a missile strike on Odesa. According to the city’s military administration, infrastructure facilities have been damaged. Specialist services are working at the scene.

Dnipropetrovsk Region

Since the evening, Russian troops have attacked the region more than ten times with strike drones.

In the Nikopol district, a private house and cars were damaged. In the Hrushev community of the Kryvyi Rih district, a car was damaged. In Pavlohrad, a market and a logistics company’s warehouse were damaged.

Mykolaiv Region

This morning, Russian forces attacked the region with Shahed and ‘Gerbera’ strike drones.

In Mykolaiv, two petrol station buildings and the windows of a multi-storey residential block were damaged.

Poltava Region

This morning, a Russian drone crashed onto the premises of one of the private enterprises within the region’s industrial complex. A fire broke out, which the emergency services quickly brought under control. No reports of casualties have been received.

Chernihiv Region

Over the past 24 hours, Russian drones have attacked the region. In the Koryukivka district, fires broke out on the premises of industrial enterprises, whilst in the Chernihiv district, timber caught fire.

Emergency services extinguished all the fires. According to preliminary information, there were no fatalities or injuries.
