The Russian Ministry of Defence has come up with a cynical excuse for its protracted combined attack on Ukraine, claiming that it has allegedly carried out a "retaliatory strike".

This was reported by the RIA Novosti propaganda Telegram channel.

The Russian Ministry of Defence stated that Russian forces had allegedly launched a massive strike, including with ‘Kinzhal’ missiles, on enterprises within Ukraine’s defence-industrial complex and military airfields.

At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defence traditionally claims that “the strike objectives have been achieved, and all designated targets have been hit”.

At the same time, the Russian side makes no mention of the actual consequences of the attack for the civilian population.

In particular, in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, the entrance to a nine-storey residential building was destroyed as a result of the Russian strike.

According to the latest reports, five people are known to have died. Around 40 more people were injured, and 20 are missing. A search and rescue operation is ongoing at the site.
