Russian troops have attacked a number of regions in Ukraine; there are casualties

Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces have launched strikes on several regions of Ukraine. The Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk and Kharkiv regions have come under shelling and drone attacks.

Chernihiv Region

Overnight, Russian forces launched a massive drone attack on Chernihiv and neighbouring communities. According to Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration, strikes and damage have been reported at various locations.

Holiday homes in the Novobilouska and Kulykivska communities, a timber processing plant, a logistics company and critical infrastructure facilities in Chernihiv were hit.

A warehouse, specialist equipment, cars and a lorry were damaged.

Also on 26 May, the Russians attacked Snovsk with Geran drones. One of the strikes hit a cemetery. Two people were injured. Transport infrastructure was damaged.

According to Chaus, Russian troops attacked the Chernihiv region 28 times over the past 24 hours.

Local authorities reported that five holiday homes and businesses of various ownership types were damaged in Chernihiv. The damage to businesses included damage to buildings and five pieces of equipment. According to preliminary data, there were no fatalities.

Zaporizhzhia region

In the Zaporizhzhia region, Russian troops carried out 616 strikes on 34 settlements over the past 24 hours.

Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that 15 people were injured as a result of the attack on the regional capital.

There were also 89 reports of damage to infrastructure, residential buildings, vehicles and farm buildings.

Kherson region

In the Kherson region, one person was killed and 17 others were injured as a result of Russian attacks over the past 24 hours.

The head of the Kherson Regional State Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, reported that Russian forces targeted critical and social infrastructure, as well as residential areas.

Five high-rise buildings and seven private homes were damaged. An administrative building, a gas pipeline and private cars were also damaged.

Dnipropetrovsk region

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian forces attacked two districts nearly 20 times using drones, artillery and aerial bombs.

According to the head of the Regional State Administration, Oleksandr Hanzha, six people were injured.

In the Nikopol district, the communities of Nikopol, Chervonohryhorivka and Marganets were hit. A fire broke out and cars were damaged.

Three people were injured. A 58-year-old man was hospitalised in a moderately serious condition. A 17-year-old boy and a 62-year-old man will receive outpatient treatment.

In the Synelnykivskyi district, Russian troops attacked the Pokrovska and Vasylkivska communities. A private house and a summer kitchen were damaged.

A 47-year-old woman was hospitalised in a moderately serious condition. Two other casualties were treated at the scene.

Donetsk region

Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, reported that on 26 May, Russian troops killed five residents of the region.

All those killed were residents of Mykolaivka.

Two more people were wounded in Mykolaivka and Bilenke.

Kharkiv region

Over the past 24 hours, Kharkiv and ten other settlements in the region came under Russian attack.

Oleg Synyegubov, Head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, reported that Russian forces had attacked the Nemyshlyanskyi district of Kharkiv with drones.

In the village of Sinne, in the Bohodukhiv community, two men aged 38 and 53 were injured.

Civilian infrastructure, power lines, cars and lorries, a hangar, a warehouse and 12 private homes were damaged or destroyed. Livestock were also killed.

In Lozova, the transit evacuation centre received 202 people over the past 24 hours.
