Xi Jinping and Donald Trump met in Beijing
During a meeting with US President Donald Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping stated that China would continue to open its market to American companies. The talks took place in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, according to Reuters.
According to the Chinese state news agency Xinhua, Donald Trump introduced Xi Jinping to American business leaders who had travelled to China as part of the US delegation.
The delegation included the heads of the largest US companies
The US business delegation included executives from a number of major US corporations, including:

China announced further market opening
Xi Jinping stated that American companies had been deeply involved in China’s reforms and policy of openness, and that the cooperation had benefited both sides.
According to him, China’s doors to the outside world “will only open wider”.
The Chinese President also stated that China welcomes the strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation with the US and believes that American companies will have broader prospects in the Chinese market.
Trump and Xi Jinping discussed Ukraine and the Middle East
Chinese state media reported that during the meeting, Donald Trump and Xi Jinping discussed key international and regional issues, including the war in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East.
According to Western media reports, one of the main topics of the summit was the question of China’s potential influence on Iran to de-escalate tensions in the region.
China remains one of Iran’s main economic partners and the largest buyer of Iranian oil.
Donald Trump called on China to open its market to the US
Before flying to Beijing, Donald Trump stated that his “first request” to Xi Jinping would be for China to open up to American business.
It is estimated that bilateral trade between the US and China in 2025 amounted to around $414.7 billion.
