Syrsky: North of Pokrovsk under Ukrainian Armed Forces control, enemy held back in Myrnohrad
Alexandr Syrsky, the Chief Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, said that the northern part of Pokrovsk is under the control of Ukrainian troops, while the Defence Forces are actively defending Myrnohrad. The Pokrovsk direction remains the most difficult, with up to 50 combat engagements taking place there daily.
The Pokrovsk sector remains the most difficult on the frontline, with about fifty combat engagements recorded there daily. This was announced on 8 January by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexandr Syrskyi, summarising the work of units performing combat missions in the Pokrovske area of the Myrnohrad agglomeration.
According to Syrsky, the enemy is trying to increase pressure on Ukrainian defensive positions, deploying additional reserves and looking for opportunities to advance. To this end, the enemy is actively using infiltration actions and conducting constant assaults. At the same time, the Defence Forces are focusing maximum efforts on restraining the offensive and destroying enemy personnel and equipment.
The Commander-in-Chief stressed that the northern part of Pokrovsk is under the control of Ukrainian troops. In Myrnohrad, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are stopping the enemy's advance and are actively defending. He emphasised that the fighting in this area is highly dynamic and intense, but Ukrainian soldiers are acting decisively and professionally, demonstrating cohesion and endurance.
According to the results of the reports, Syrsky clarified the tasks for the commanders of army corps and brigades on the ground. In particular, a set of steps has been identified to increase the resilience of defence and ensure the smooth operation of key logistics routes, which directly affect the supply of ammunition and the arrival of reinforcements.
The Commander-in-Chief also stressed the need to support the combat capabilities of the units and save the lives of Ukrainian defenders, calling them the most valuable resource. He also thanked the soldiers, sergeants and officers, emphasising that it is thanks to their actions that the enemy suffers significant losses, and Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad remain under the control of Ukraine.
