The court found a 19-year-old man guilty of raping a minor and sentenced him to 15 years in prison.

This was reported by The Public with reference to the press service of the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to the prosecutor's office, the crime took place in April 2024 in one of the villages of the Mukachevo district. Law enforcement officers detained the suspect the day after the incident was reported. He has been in custody ever since.

The prosecutor's office noted that during the trial, the prosecution fully proved the man's guilt. The court agreed with the prosecutors' position and sentenced him to 15 years in prison.

In addition, the court upheld the victim's civil claim and ordered the convicted person to pay 100,000 hryvnias in moral compensation.

The convicted man will remain in custody until the verdict comes into force.

The court hearings were held in closed session to protect the victim's privacy and prevent her from being traumatised again.
