Court to consider seizure of Yulia Tymoshenko's property: when will the hearing take place?
The High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine has postponed consideration of the prosecutor's motion to seize the property of People's Deputy and leader of the Batkivshchyna party Yulia Tymoshenko until Tuesday, 20 January. This was reported on 19 January by TSN correspondent Dmytro Svyatnenko directly from the courtroom.
The prosecution's motion concerns the seizure of Tymoshenko's property in connection with criminal proceedings in which she is suspected of offering bribes to MPs. The hearing was originally scheduled to take place earlier, but the court decided to postpone it until the following day.
At the same time, Yulia Tymoshenko stated that she was having difficulty paying the bail set by the court in the amount of 33 million hryvnias. According to her, after the bail amount was announced, her financial accounts were effectively blocked, making it impossible to transfer the funds by the deadline — Wednesday, 21 January. The politician emphasises that if the bail is not paid by Thursday, the court may change the preventive measure to detention.
Tymoshenko claims that the blocking was due to financial monitoring, and banks are not accepting payments because the checks may take several days. She stated that such actions are aimed at depriving her of the opportunity to post bail on time.
The leader of Batkivshchyna also commented on the possible seizure of property, noting that all her assets are declared and open, and she has no hidden property. At the same time, according to her, even if funds are available, financial institutions do not carry out transactions due to ongoing checks.
