Suspilne: The General Staff is considering the possibility of turning off the mobile network during an alarm
The General Staff assumes the possibility of turning off the mobile network or significantly slowing down mobile internet during air raid alerts.

This was reported to Suspilne by a source in the General Staff.

Despite the fact that there are currently measures in place to counter Russia's use of the Ukrainian mobile network for drone navigation, this situation may change in the future.

“There is a point to such measures (disabling the mobile network). How necessary it is depends on the specific situation and conditions. Therefore, it may be appropriate in some cases to reduce mobile internet speed to limit the operation of UAVs in FPV mode,” the source from the General Staff said.

However, it depends on the type of drone used by the Russian army, the source noted.

Yes, UAVs without cameras do not require high internet speeds to transmit data, while camera-equipped drones need high-speed data transmission, so it is precisely for them that “it makes sense to implement restrictions on mobile communication”.
