Trump has threatened to wipe Iran off the map in the event of attacks on American ships
US President Donald Trump told Fox News that if Iran were to attack American ships near the Strait of Hormuz, the United States would destroy it, according to the Times of Israel.
At the same time, Trump noted that Iran is showing flexibility in negotiations and is “much more accommodating” under the pressure of the blockade of Iranian ports.
According to the US president, Washington continues to build up its military presence in the region and deploy forces and equipment there.
“We have more weapons and ammunition of a much higher standard than we did before. We have the best equipment. We have this all over the world. We have bases all over the world. They are all equipped with the necessary technology. We can use all of this, and we will do so if necessary,” Trump stated.
In a social media post, he also noted that Iran “carried out several attacks against unrelated countries”, including against a South Korean cargo ship, though no damage was caused to other vessels.
Furthermore, according to Trump, Iran fired missiles at the United Arab Emirates.
The US President added that American forces had destroyed seven Iranian speedboats.
Trump also announced that US Defence Secretary Pete Hagset and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Kane, would hold a further press conference the following day.
