Trump has stated that US troops will remain near Iran until the agreement is fulfilled
US President Donald Trump has stated that American troops will remain deployed near Iran until a so-called ‘real deal’ is reached.
In a post on Truth Social on 9 April, he noted that US ships, aircraft and military personnel, along with additional ammunition and weapons, would remain in place to conduct combat operations if necessary.
Trump also warned of the possibility of new strikes if no agreement is reached. “If for some reason this does not happen, which is highly unlikely, then the ‘shooting’ will begin – bigger, better and stronger than anyone has ever seen before,” he said.
He stressed that Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons, and that the Strait of Hormuz must remain open and secure.
The day before, the US president announced an agreement on a two-week ceasefire with Iran, subject to the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, said that an Iranian delegation would arrive in Islamabad on Thursday evening for talks with the US.
“Despite scepticism among the Iranian public due to repeated violations of the ceasefire by the Israeli regime, the Iranian delegation is arriving in Islamabad this evening for serious talks based on the ten points proposed by Iran,” he wrote on social media platform X.
The first round of talks between the US and Iran on a ceasefire agreement is expected to take place in Islamabad on 10 April.
