A Russian spy who was leaking information about military aid to Ukraine has been arrested in Berlin
This has been reported by the German Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office.
“Yesterday, 28 April, the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office arrested Sergei K., a citizen of Kazakhstan. A search was also carried out at the suspect’s premises, as well as at the premises of a person who is not suspected of any offences,” the prosecutor’s office stated.
It is noted that the man is suspected of collaborating with a foreign intelligence service.
What is known about the suspect’s actions
It is known that Sergei K. has been in constant contact with a Russian intelligence service from Germany since at least May 2025. Prior to his arrest, the accused passed on numerous pieces of information of various kinds to his handler.
In particular, he leaked details about Germany’s military support for Ukraine and about the German arms and defence industry, specifically companies developing drones and robots.
In addition, he repeatedly sent photographs of public buildings in Berlin and military convoys on motorways, including a convoy belonging to a NATO member state. He also offered to recruit new individuals for sabotage and espionage work.
Today, the suspect will be brought before an investigating judge at the Federal Court, who will issue an arrest warrant and decide on a preventive measure.
