An illegal alcohol production operation has been uncovered in Dnipro, with products worth over 4 million hryvnias seized
The National Police in Dnipro have uncovered a large-scale network involved in the illicit production and sale of counterfeit alcohol. The total value of the seized goods exceeds 4 million hryvnias.
According to law enforcement officials, the illegal operation was organised by residents of Dnipro. They had established a complete production and distribution cycle, from manufacturing to sales.
A workshop was set up within the city for mass production. The finished products were stored in rented garages and warehouses. Sales were carried out wholesale and retail through shops under their control in the region.
To pass off the products as premium goods, they used counterfeit excise stamps and labels of well-known alcoholic beverages.
Law enforcement officers documented the company’s activities and carried out 36 authorised searches of production, storage and sales premises.
During the investigation, over 3,500 litres of spirit, over 4,000 litres of counterfeit alcohol in bottles, 2,100 litres of product in Tetra Paks, nearly 10,000 packets of tobacco products without excise stamps, equipment, containers, rough notes, computer equipment, cash, six vehicles and other evidence.
A pre-trial investigation is ongoing into the illegal manufacture, storage and sale of excise goods, as well as the use of counterfeit excise stamps. The necessary procedural steps and expert examinations are being carried out to identify all those involved in the scheme.
The Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office is overseeing the proceedings.
