In Russia, fires broke out at a gas processing plant in Astrakhan and the Nurlino oil terminal following drone attacks
Igor Babushkin, Governor of the Astrakhan Region, has reported an attack on the Astrakhan gas processing plant, which is owned by Gazprom Pererabotka. According to him, the attack was repelled, but debris from the downed drones caused a fire. No one was injured.
The Astrakhan gas processing plant is one of the largest in Russia. In 2024, the plant produced 0.8 million tonnes of motor petrol, 0.6 million tonnes of diesel fuel and 0.3 million tonnes of fuel oil. The plant is also considered Russia’s largest producer of gas sulphur.
In September 2025, the plant had already come under attack by drones, after which it temporarily halted production of motor fuel.
Also in Bashkortostan, the Nurlino linear production and dispatch station (LPDS) near the city of Ufa, which is Transneft’s largest station in the Ural region, caught fire.
According to Ukrainian monitoring channels, a fuel tank caught fire at the facility. Footage released by eyewitnesses shows a thick column of smoke rising above the station. Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations stated that an explosion occurred at the station due to a ‘breach of the technological process’, which caused the fire.
The Nurlino station is a key hub for the Ust-Balyk, Kurgan, Ufa and Almetyevsk main oil pipelines. It handles the reception, storage, blending and pumping of oil.
Also, following a drone attack and the fall of drone debris, a fire broke out on the premises of one of the enterprises in the village of Volna in the Temryuk District of the Krasnodar Region. The Krasnodar Region Operational Headquarters reported that 96 people and 29 pieces of equipment were deployed to extinguish the fire. According to the Russian authorities, the fire was caused by equipment catching fire.
Debris from drones was also found in the neighbouring village of Taman. The village of Volna is home to the oil and dry cargo terminals of the Black Sea port of Taman, where fuel is transhipped for export. The port has previously been attacked by drones on several occasions.
Last night, Ukrainian drones flew over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kursk, Rostov, Tambov, Yaroslavl, Oryol, Tula, Kaluga, Ryazan and Astrakhan regions, the Krasnodar Krai, Kalmykia, the annexed Crimea, as well as over the waters of the Azov and Black Seas.
